Made a bit more progress today. The first floor tongue and groove subfloor is in (glued and nailed), most of the end blocking of the joists has been done, and one of the walls has been put up. The new basement space now really feels like an actual basement. The biggest thing is that now it's completely covered, so I don't need to worry about precipitation getting in there and then having to shovel/pump it out. That was getting really tedious, especially with all the rain we've been having.
The major delay today was that we discovered the rear of home had been sagging nearly 3/4" from one side to the other. So, on one side the new floor lined up OK with the existing floor, and on the other side it was off by 3/4". So, some time was spent jacking up and then installing new supports in the basement to get everything level.
Tomorrow the wall framing will continue. I expect the other two 1st floor walls will be completed and most of the openings for the windows/doors should be cut out. They may also get some of the interior load-bearing beams and posts in place as well, we will see.
Before the wall was put up:
Looks exciting! Not too surprised you had some foundation 'settling' over the years. Good to catch that so everything will line up from here on out.
ReplyDeleteHope to get over next couple weeks.
