1st floor wiring progress

Lots of progress with the first floor wiring.  At this rate we will be done much quicker than the 2nd floor.

I am pretty sure all of the 2nd floor circuits are in place in the box now.  Just have a few loose ends to tie up and then we can move down to the 1st floor.

Today the plumbers installed the upstairs hall/shared bathroom bathtub.  We still need to build the wall on the end.

Windows and wiring

Family room windows got installed yesterday.  Glad to finally have that space enclosed.  We will soon be purchasing the exterior door.  One of the kitchen windows is in but the other was only ordered recently so will be in in a week or two.

Also making good progress on the wiring upstairs.  Recessed lights and ceiling fan boxes going in.  Today Kim and I will be doing wiring for the wall outlets upstairs.

Electrical progress

Lots of electrical progress happening. Going to start installing recessed light housings tomorrow.  Most of the switch wiring and feeds for the overhead circuits is now in place.

Note the red cable Staples.  They are a cool way to get a bunch of cables corraled within a 2x4 wall.  I will send lots more photos when it is finished.

Electrical work begins

Over the weekend Dad and I ran the 1/0 SER cable to provide power to each of the three subpanels.  It was a bear to run but now each panel has power and all of the circuits for the corresponding floor can just be run over to panel on the same floor.

Next up is to actually terminate the wire inside all of the boxes and install the (3) 100-amp double pole breakers (1 for each subpanel).  Also, the basement subpanel needs to have its separate meter (not a power company thing) installed by me.

Finally, we had some help with Kim's dad starting the wiring for the outlets in one of the bedrooms.

Basement Stair Lights

Kim and I finished up the pre-concrete stair lights for the exterior basement stairs.  This all has to be in place prior to the other side of the wall form being installed (tomorrow/Monday).  All of the horizontal metal bars sticking out in the photos below attach to similar forms that face inward, and together this makes up the exterior stairwell wall.

When the concrete is poured, it will completely encase the conduit and boxes and they will be permanently held in place.

In order to keep them in proper position during the pour, they have to be attached to the form itself.  I figured out a way to use plastic tubing as a spacer to protect the bolt itself from becoming encased in concrete.  This will allow the concrete contractor to remove the bolts from the other side of the form prior to removing the forms after the concrete has poured.

We also added a box in the center of the bottom landing on the wall for an exterior power outlet.
