Backfill complete

Water line digging did not begin today, but they did finish the backfill for the foundation.  They actually had to truck in some extra dirt as they removed a bit too much during the initial excavation.

The only area left to be filled in is around the sewer line, which they left extra dirt for.

Anyways, it's great to finally have level ground back there again and to have the two windows wells in place.  Although now it's just a bunch of dirt and will promptly turn to complete mud the next time we get rain.  I'll happily trade that though.

I do need to check with them next week to make sure there is plenty of sloping away from the foundation.  Pretty sure they did it right but I want to be sure.

They also went ahead and dug the hole for my drywell, which will save me a whole bunch of digging.

Ready to pour the footings

Inspector came today to inspect the footings prior to pour.  Pour starts tomorrow (Wednesday) morning!

Reno week 2

Relatively uneventful day progress wise today.  Interior demo is nearly complete, excavation has just about 2 hours of work left.  They have started building the formwork for the footers...hoping to have footers poured on Wednesday, inspection and weather permitting.
Two large deliveries today: Type II EPS foam insulation board (foundation walls, basement slab perimeter) (pictured) and the Henry Blueskin foundation waterproofing membrane.

Demo day 6?

I say question mark because I am starting to lose track of the days.  I guess eventually I will stop labeling these by day #.

The new foundation space is really starting to take shape.  They should be finished with the excavation by the end of the day on Monday.  The large dirt pile will remain in place for several weeks until backfill is completed.

I will be cutting the cast iron sewer pipe tomorrow and installing the Fernco coupling and PVC exterior cleanouts.  Otherwise, there's not much else I can do until the excavation completes.

Demo day 4, excavation day 1

First day of excavation...lots of demoing going on inside as well.  We decided to take down all of the plaster walls, including the ones that are not being otherwise modified.

The well

We discovered an old steel lined well in the backyard today.  It goes down about 12.5 feet.  We will probably be demolishing down about 9 feet of it, and then filling in the rest with concrete.
